Thanks for posting this. My great grandfather was a bucket man on the Hullets in Ashtabula Harbor. They were scrapped many years ago, but they saved a bucket for display at Point Park overlooking the harbor. Last I knew, it’s still there.

Oh man! This place has CHANGED! When I first raced there, the bathrooms were HORRENDOUS! 😂 Grass areas were a mud pit... it was not well maintained. Track was so-s- too. NL looks a lot better. I always enjoyed the layout. Raced my FZR 400, GSXR 600 there in '91, '92 & 2000. Best finish was a 4th in the 4 hour endurance with a team mate. Best solo was a 5th in LW SS. Good memories!

Who is getting the money from the scrapping out? I would bet that the pre atomic age ww 2 steel is worth a lot of money to someone.

That is unforgivable sacrilege allowing historic machinery to be cut up. They promised that one would be reassembled and set up for visitors to see. I would have loved to see them running. WHY destroy a country's history?🤬😢

A well built aircraft. First flight the Hughes Air west years as a kid, dad was line maintenance and me. My experience some line composite, hangar. Built like an A10 warthog.😊❤

I wonder why NWA decided to get rid of their MD-80s in 2002 but kept DC-9s all the way to the merger.

I remember a time in the mid-90's in Wichita, KS. I had a part-time job for TWA in Wichita. The airline had just kicked the regular employees out of Wichita and brought in contractors to work the ramp. The union employees were ticked off with this....so one day a DC-9-30 came in from the St Louis hub with over 150 bags loaded into the belly of the aircraft handles forward. Apparently, they thought they were being cleaver....so I went and got the lavatory truck and got some SERIOUS PAY BACK! On the older DC-9's....the toilets held the blue chemical water internally. Instead of hooking up the dump shoot to drain each toilet into the truck....I pulled the dump handle from both toilets and drained it all into the main drain line. I pumped fresh chemical water into each toilet and let it go. The dump shoot has a metal and rubber seal gasket in the line that you unlocked with a special tool before you hooked the hose up to the flange. After dumping....you'd remove the hose and put the locking gasket back in the line and then you close the outer door. All 8 to 10 gallons of used toilet water stayed in that line between the toilets and the outer flange. When the aircraft got back to St Louis and the toilets were serviced...they ramp person opened the outer door and stuck the tool up the dump shoot to unlock the plug. The minute the plug was unlocked...all of the toilet water came out under force and I'm sure...painted the person but good. Needless to say....St Louis didn't mess with us again after that.....🤣
